SYSTEM PART 2
Gerneral information on the device,is stated here .notice that I used
the com port for this for no reason but to show you.
NOTE; the device status shows you what maybe wrong with any given card,be it a conflict
or drivers not installed proporly.
NOTE;I'll do a page completely showing all the error codes that may be presented within
the device status,box here.
The port settings is simply to adjust the speed at which your device card is read and recives data.
Somtimes to addjust the advanced setting helps the modem to control a little faster speeds.
You will notice that changing the setting here can influnce the recive and send buffers
of the ports use.
The driver section show you, most times the version of drivers, but at the bottom you will notice
the driver file details.Hit that button and it will open the next picture I have in line.
You will notice here, that when you look at the driver file details.it tells you what vxd's"virtual device driver"
is being used and the version number,of them, and their location too.
NOTE; this is a good thing to remember because there are times you may have to update these drivers and to know what
each are for is good.
Here it tells you the input/output range and the interupt request setting.
Note;most cases in windows 98 you will not need to deal with these, windows sets them for you.But on the odd chance
you have to change the settings, you have to clear the checked box to do so.notice at the bottom the windows will state
what other device is in conflect with the device you are working on.I'll go into detail on another page of justr this topic.
